They build us up....just to let us down....

It's almost the start of the new season, and it's time for the Yankees to actually do something. I know some may say, Yankee fans are spoiled. But are we really? They have the highest salary in Baseball, the best players, and best coaching, but never do anything but 1st round and out in the playoffs. It's like the players get their check and are done for the year. We don't even compete in the playoffs. Most of the first round series we have played in the last 5 years have ended in less than 5 games. This is a major dissappointment. I say, it's either time to make a legitimate run at a world series, or start cutting down on some of that wasted salary. Honestly what do we have to look foward to that's different from last year? We don't have a solid rotation. Wang is our only reliable guy. Pettite can get hot for stretches, but that's it, and who knows how he will be treated by fans. Then we have Mussina, hughes. Mussina is another old player, just staying in the league to make his last bit of money. His best days have past, hell his decent days have past. He is a major liability to the team. Then Hughes, suppose to be one of our bright young starters. I watched a lot of baseball last year and didn't see much of anything. Most guys with that much praise, even if they have a struggling first year, you can say "hey, that guys got it" I don't see myself saying that with this kid. Next we have the bull-pen. Spent some money on it, but not enough to make it any good. Still have same problem as last year. Starters won't get enough innings and the pen will get overworked. Chamberlain is the only hope, and he'll probably start by seasons end. Then Rivera. The greatest closer of all time, got a contract extension, based on his name. He's only an average closer these days at best. In the field we're pretty much the same. 33 year olds make 10 to 20 million a year. Slow but can hit the ball far. I love our middle infield, and exspect A-Rod to have another big REGULAR season. But will that be enough? In my eyes, I have a hard time seeing it. We can score some runs, but still have our pitching issues. As sad as it is we may be looking at another one and done season, if we can grab a wild card spot!

  1. I hate to take a shot at you because I am a die-hard Yankee fan and have a lot of the same feelings as you but I have to anyway.  The Yankees have plenty of pitching to win.  Pettitte is consistent and Hughes and Kennedy will be much better this year.  I do not like Moose anymore though.  We have tons of young talent and also a lot of money coming off the books after this year.  Giambi at 21 million is gone, Moose at 11.5, Abreu at 16, Farnsworth at 6.5 and Damon's 13 comes off next year.  The Yanks will be cutting costs (or spending it elsewhere) next year (CC Sabathia is a free agent).  Cashman has control of the front office and has built up the minor league system.  The Yanks may not have a WS run in them this year but things are looking bright for the future.  Stop taking shots at A-Rod because Jeter and Wang cost us in the playoffs last year and A-Rod is the only reason the Yanks saw the playoffs at all.
