Kansas High School Basketball Coach Hypnotized Team

A high school board in Kansas voted last month to ban hypnotism sessions after their Class 1A boys basketball coach employed the therapy to increase focus and concentration among members of his team.

St. John High School basketball coach Clint Kinnamon had sought the free help of Carl Feril, a Church of Christ minster who is also a clinical family and marriage therapist.

"It won't be going on anymore at school," said Superintendent James, who requested a transcript of the sessions. "If parents want their child to do that, they can contact the licensed therapist on their own."

St. John, a town with a population of 1,200 about 90 miles northwest of Wichita, is traditionally a basketball powerhouse in Kansas. The boys team had won the state basketball championship in 2007 and they finished second last year.

The Bronx Will Be a Better Neighborhood without A-Roid*

New York Yankees parasite Alex Rodriguez had arthroscopic surgery Monday to repair torn cartilage in his right hip and doctors said they found nothing during the procedure that would keep the overrated ballplayer from returning to the Bombers lineup in May.

A-Fraud, 33, who signed a 10-year contract worth $275 million with the Yankees in November 2007, will need a more extensive surgery after the season. But, much to the chagrin of genuine Yankees fans everywhere, the purple-lipped pariah should be ready for the start of spring training in 2010.

Many pundits have predicted that Rodriguez’s injury will be a fatal blow to the Yankees 2009 season.  These same analysts curiously forget that A-Roid*, a 3-time American League MVP who admitted he used steroids from 2001-2003, has never played on a team that has been ultimately successful.

Dykstra's "Fucking Out!"

A former editor of Players Club poorly portrayed the periodicals founder, Lenny Dykstra, a 4-time All-Star on the baseball diamond, in this month’s edition of GQ Magazine.

Kevin Coughlin, who is currently employed as a photo editor at the New York Post, provided a nightmarish account of the 67 days he worked for Dykstra, 46, a fan favorite when he played outfield for the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Players Club is a magazine designed to advise professional athletes how to utilize their massive earnings in a constructive way that will prohibit any future financial struggles.

The first four athletes to grace the covers of the magazine were Derek Jeter, Chris Paul, Tiger Woods and Danica Patrick.

Curt Schilling Should be a Hall of Famer

Dominant pitching ace and living hemorrhoid Curt Schilling retired Monday after 20 decorated seasons playing Major League Baseball.

Schilling, 42, who was awarded the 2001 World Series co-MVP with former Arizona Diamondbacks teammate Randy Johnson and is only the second person in history to have twice won or shared Sports Illustrated magazine’s “Sportsmen of the Year” honor, said he departed the game with “zero regrets.”

“The things I was able to experience, the people I was able to call friends, teammates, mentors, coaches and opponents, the travel, all of it, are far more than anything I ever thought possible in my lifetime,” said Schilling, who went 216-146 with a 3.46 ERA while playing for 5 professional organizations.
