enemypoet's New York Yankees Fan Profile

Brief description

Baseball: "A Johnny Appleseed nucleotide abetting evolution's first pitch...the curve ball."

Who am I?

I am enemypoet, and I am pleased to welcome you to this admittedly unorthodox blog.

A "shortish" mission statement:

Within these makeshift "walls" we will explore some of the cultural influences, prosaic nature,
mythology and humanity of baseball.

As an historical creature, baseball is deeply embedded within the heart of our society.
Creature I call it, in the same manner that fire has been referred to as a creature
by those who are familiar with it.

I assert herein that baseball is sentient. Baseball is aware of itself.
It WILL survive.
I am attracted to this. Aren't you?

From humble to Hubble: a not so prosaic homage to Dennis Irwin, bassist and great man. posted on 03/14/2008

To live content with small means;

to seek elegance rather than luxury

and refinement rather than fashion;

to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich;

to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart;

to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently

 Don Larsen & Yogi Berra

Relativity: Catching A Perfect Game.

The cogs of evolution spin, whether or not we are aware of them.

They spin on,whether we aid, or resist them.

So, are we subject to the will of evolution?

Do we have no choice? Is this destiny? Fate?

It's a bit of a tree falling in the forest syndrome.

For the sake of the argument though, why not let it play out?

For example, if we sat at home, did nothing at all and

watched our life crumble around us until we ended up on the street

and followed that track to the inevitable conclusion of starvation and death,

New York Yankees: Inaugural Blog, Part One posted on 02/29/2008

History is the expression of freedom.

Freedom is nature's expression of free will.

Nature's mandate is evolution.

To become more than the sum of its parts.

This is the yoga of art and science.

This is the stuff you know as evolution.

Here, in this inaugural post, evolution is too big for me to start out with.

I thought I'd like to start with the New York Yankees.

Mahatma Guru Sri Paramahansa Shivaji gives me a springboard:

(roughly adapted from "Eight Lectures on Yoga")

-Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole of the law.

Let us consider a piece of cheese. We say that this has certain qualities, shape,

structure, color, solidity, weight, taste, smell, consistency and the rest; but investigation has
