While I've grown up a Yankees fan for all of my life, there was an unfortunate stretch of time where I lived a little too close in proximity to Red Sox Nation. During my childhood in New England, I received a lot of flack for being a Yankees fan, most of which was aimed at the fact that the yankees are a supposed "money team" stealing quality players from other teams with their rich bank roll...

What a load of crap. I'm so sick of this argument, it makes me sick. I don't deny the fact that the yankees have the highest payroll in the league. That is an undisputed truth. But do you know who has the second highest payroll in the league? Ummm...that would be the red sox. So don't pretend like your precious runner-ups are any better, or more genuine than the evil empire. At least the yankees are upfront about things. Steinbrenner acknowleges the yankees as a business venture more than anything else. The players (with the exception of Derek Jeter) are permanently attached to a revolving door. If you don't perform, then get out! The red sox desperately cling to this idea of david and goliath, garnering sympathy from baseball fans around the world. The poor red sox haven't been right since the evil yankees bought the rights to Babe Ruth. You know what the truth is...Ruth understood that it was time to jump ship. The yankees were the team of the future, the red sox were just a bunch of hacks with a stupid name.

Continue reading "Boston Red Sox Masters of the Mediocre"

While the Yankees might have been on a slow morphine drip throughout this entire season, licking their wounds, promising themselves that next year will be different, now is not the time to abandon all hope. It is, however, the time to panic. With only a month left in the season, the yanks are 12 games out of first place in the AL East, and 5 games behind Boston for second place. If there was ever a time for the players to get fired up, now is that time. There is a lot of baseball left to be played, with crucial series against the Orioles, Devil Rays, and Red Sox closing the season, a shot a the pennant is not exactly out of the question. But the yankees need help along the way. Let's just hope that now that Giambi's moustache is back, all their opponents
Continue reading "Dont Pull the Plug Just Yet"
