Allstar Snubs

I am still getting over some of the decisions for the Allstar game. Here are some of the questionable calls (I realize some of this is my Yankee bias) I will not argue with fan picks, but the player and manager picks definitely have some question marks.

Snubs:

1) Jason Giambi- The Big G has ranked in the top in the league in OPS, Slugging and Hr's. He would be a perfect replacement for Ortiz and has a shot to be the last man in. But he is a Yankee its his home ballpark and his play has merrited a trip to the allstar game. Plus it would be fun to see the Stache get a shot to win the Homerun Derby

2) Mike Mussina- Moose is in the top 2 in wins and top 15 in ERA. He has been the Yankees ace and has definetly been one of the top pitchers in the AL in the first half.

3) Jermaine Dye- Dye has been the Whitesox best player in the first half. Every game I watch the Whitesox play he is making a great catch, hitting a homerun, or getting a clutch hit.

4) Evan Longaria- The easy choice for rookie of the year might also be the second best thirdbaseman in baseball (behind a-rod.) Longoria should be there ahead of Joe Crede. Plus his team has the best record in baseball and they deserve some national spotlight for their amazing start.

5) Ken Griffey, JR- Junior isnt having a great year but this would have been a nice sentimental pick. He recently hit his 600th homerun and belongs with all the Hall of Famers who will be attending. Some guys should always be part of Allstar festivities (Jeter, A-rod, Pujols, and Ortiz to name a few) and Griffey is one of them. Would be nice to see him there rather than Fukodome.

Head-scratchers

1) Jason Varitek- One sentence explains this head-scratcher - He has a 215 batting average.

2) Joe Crede- It is true Crede is having a rebound season. His defense and power have been great but he is only hitting 260 and the White Sox are represented. Evan Longaria should be there in his place.

3) AL Relievers- Terry Francona got reliever happy. He selected a bunch of closers - Sherrill, K-Rod, Papelbon, Nathan, Soria, and Rivera. There isnt even enough innings for all of them. There should be some other starters on the team.
