MY WISH LIST:

1-- Plan the starting rotation around having Joba in the BULLPEN...Have 6 starters going into the season...

-- He can be the next Mariano...elite closers are hard to come by...

2-- How much for Sabathia?

--Early reports have the Yanks ready to offer 30 million a year...that is crazy...To me, that just magnifies how they messed up the Johan situtation last year... With so much money coming off the books, and so much coming in from the new stadium, this type of contract does not in anyway put a dent in the Yankee wallet...

3-- Derek Lowe

--If we land Sabathia, Lowe would be great for depth...He is an innings eater and has proved time and time again that he can pitch well in a big spot...Just what we need...

4-- Figure out first base

Well this would be interesting to say the least...Manny playing right field.  It is nice to think about what that lineup would look like with him and A-Rod batting next to one another.  The real question wouldn't be the lineup, it would be the locker room...

I like how the story finishes with what is the real issue for the Yankees...Starting pitching...I am very mixed on whether or not I would want Manny on the Yankees...

Let's also take this morning jolt thing on SI with a grain of salt, it is a great read as far as the rumor mill is concerned, but it has yet to prove itself totally accurate...

Sorry for the lack of posts the past few months, now that the World Series is over (finally), the hot stove is about to start up and I could not be happier...15 days and counting until free agency.  Something tells me the Yankees will not only be active in signing free agents, but also active in the trade market.

Many will say that the off-season hot stove is just as intriguing as the actual games themselves...I wouldn't go that far, BUT there is something about baseball's off-season that no other sport can match...

In the coming days/weeks I will be posting my wish list and ways that I think the Yankees can get back to post-season success...coming off of the first quiet October in the  Bronx in 14 years.... (I was 8 years old, the last time the Yankees didn't make it to the playoffs)...

The news all Yankee fans wanted/needed to hear today broke a little while ago, as Manny Ramirez was traded to the Dodgers in a 3-way deal that also included the Pirates....Jason Bay is the main piece that the Sox get back...

The Sawx are going to regret this come October...JAson Bay has never played a meaningful, late-season game in the Big Leagues yet...OH BABY...

Great timing as the Yankees get ready to play the Angels, which historically, doesn't always go 'that well' for us...

Wow, who would've thought that Joe Torre would one day be managing Manny Ramirez...

Well that was a surprise...

Nice win by the Yanks followed by a very unexpected trade with the Tigers to acquire Catcher, Pudge Rodriguez for P Kyle Farnsworth.

The more I think about this trade, the happier I get...you can take the angle that the Yanks (like any other team in baseball) can't afford to give up a quality arm...That is true, however this 'quality arm' is not exactly what I would call consistent and not someone that i want pitching meaningful innings in, in October.

Pudge brings a lot to the table...He has had a decent offensive year, and similiar to his role with the Tigers, won't be asked to provide all of the offense.  He will also be good for the young pitchers on the staff if/when they can come back.

What a big season it has been in terms of major trades.  With all of the moves that have been made (including another surprise, with Griffey Jr. going to the White Sox) the biggest trade has yet to have happened...

Terrible loss last night for the Yanks...BTW...after Mo gave up what seemed to be a meaningless home run to Aubrey Huff in the top of the ninth, I could have predicted the final score to be 7-6.

Baltimore begged the Yankees to take this one and we just could not close the deal...terrible job...once again, a blown opportunity to gain ground on the Sox who almost got no-hit by John Lackey and the Angels...

On the "bright side," the Angels are coming to town:)   Remember them?  That team who plays on the west coast and has absolutley owned us in recent years?

Credited with being the Yanks'  biggest obstacle during the Joe Torre era, lets hope when Joe went west, so did the Yanks' tough luck with the Angels..WHO by the way, will have Mark Teixeira in their lineup   =lovely.

So my mind just wondered a bit as I sit here at my desk, at the end of a busy day and I got to thinking...

Manny Ramirez playing for a team besides the Red Sox.

Any sensible Yankee fan will stand up and say that although he is a hated Red Sock(X?) no other player in the game today strikes as much fear into their hearts than he does.

Ramirez is arguably the best pure right-handed hitter of our generation...the fact that I as a proud Yankee fan would only MAYBE have to see him during Interleague play would make my season...

All the rumors are there, but aren't they always this time of year?

Dodgers, Mets...whoever else...usually it never happens but this Yankee fan is thinking wishfully.  Manny would look awesome in Dodger-blue...I would even like it if he went to the cross-town Mets, of whom I do not have much love-loss for.

Alright so lets just pretend last night didn't happen.  Perfect opportunity for the Yankees to gain some ground, with the Red Sox losing to the Angels, but the Yanks were never in it from the beginning.

Glad to see that Jorge Posada is going to shut it down and get the surgery he needs.  As the famed voice of Yankees Baseball, John Sterling, figured out for me last night on the radio during my car-ride home, there are 7 months between now and the start of Spring Training (which only took him an entire inning to do)....Hoepfully that is enough time for Jorge to be as close to 100% as he can be for the 2009 campaign.

Hopefully Moose can just forget about this start and move on to his next which will be against the Angels.  Looks like there might be some pretty interesting deals come Thursday..

Great time in Albany on Saturday capped off by a great game for Andy Pettitte and the Yanks.  To be honest, I expected last night to happen.  It would have been way to good to be true to have Sidney Ponson pitch effectively and have the Yankees sweep the Red Sox at Fenway.

That said, they need to take it to the O's the next 3 games and keep the pressure on both Tampa and the Red Sox.  Boston is defintely vulnerable right now, with all the hoop-la surrounding Manny Ramirez and their pitching woes.

Still can't believe how we got Damaso Marte along with Xavier Nady for the package that we did.  Marte had an immediate impact on Saturday when he came in and got David Ortiz out.

Moose faces the only other team he has pitched for in the majors tonight....let's hope he gets number 14.

So much to talk about...Great outting by Joba not to mention the escalating rivalry between he and Youkilis ...big 5 out save from Mo and just enough offense to win the first of 3 at Fenway.

Plus the fact that we were able to get a bat like Xavier Nady into the lineup and some left-handed relief in Damaso Marte for 4 prospects including pitcher, who has seen some time with the Yanks this year, Ross Ohlendorf and OF prospect Jose Tabata.

The fact that there were at least 3 teams after both Nady and Marte and that we got both of them is a great deal.  Wonder who will be sent down, especially when it comes to the pen...It's a nice problem to have, but both Edwar Ramirez and Jose Veras, who you would figure to be the leading candidates to get a demotion, have both pitched very well as of late.
