Yankees VS Tigers gm. 2 of 3 POST GAME THOUGHTS

Well the Yanks just dropped their 2nd straight to the Tigers.  This puts all of the pressure onto Ian Kennedy to pitch well tomorrow and avoid being swept.

Overall, Pettitte pitched okay, gave up a 2 run-home run to Marcus Thames in the 5th and struggled again in the 6th.

As far as tonight goes,  the lineup seemed dead tonight.  No life after the first inning, where they could only muster up 2 runs when they had the bases loaded.  It seemed like Bonderman, who has struggled this year was on his heels, but the Yankees let him settle down and he did just that.

Without further or do(I think that’s how you say it)…

THE GOOD:

The bullpen bent but didn’t break tonight.  Kyle Farnsworth gave up a home run, but what else is new.

(that’s all the good I can squeeze out of tonight’s game, no matter how hard I try)

Alberto Gonzalez’ defense at third…Was tested early and often…Another reminder that Brian Cashman really robbed the Arizona Diamondbacks when he sent Randy Johnson back to the desert (The Yanks got Luis Vizcaino, Ross Ohlendorf and Alberto Gonzalez in that trade).

THE BAD:

Take it for what its worth, Phil Hughes lands on the DL with a strained oblique.  Let the chit-chat begin on this one…

Lack of offense…Started out well, Johnny Damon with a double followed by a Jeter single and an Abreu walk.  After that, nothing more.

THE UGLY:

Robinson Cano…He has perfected the disgusted sigh, you’ve seen it, when he throws his head down when he flies out in a big spot.

In all honesty, if Ian Kennedy pitches well tomorrow (7 innings with a lead and hand it off to Joba and Mo) all the attention going into the weekend would be focused on that rather than what has taken place the past two nights.

Something has to give…Injuries happen, everyone else has to step it up before the hole gets too deep.
