Yankees at Rays gm. 3 of 4 POST GAME THOUGHTS

Well Hank Steinbrenner laid down the first of what are probably many ultimatums and for one night, it worked.

The Yankees get a win and yet again, limited offense...but it was enough.

THE GOOD:

Robinson Cano...4 for 4 today, you get the sense he is back, which would be huge.

Joba...Aside from the walk he issued to Iwamura, he struck out the other 3 batters in the inning.

Moose...6.1 scoreless innings.  With the production that he has given the Yanks early on this season, makes you wonder where the Yankees would be right now with a healthy A-Rod and Posada and healthy (and good) Phil Hughes.

Melky...Everyone always talks about whether the Yankees should have given up Hughes and/or Kennedy to get Santana in the off-season, which is a debate that will live on forever, but what most people won't mention is that Melky Cabrera was also involved in that trade.  Between Cabrera, Hughes and Kennedy, you tell me who has been the best player so far this season....

THE BAD:

Only 2 runs scored...James Shields pitched well, but at some point, the Yanks and especially the pitching staff need an easy win, one that the Yanks get off to a big, early lead.

THE UGLY:

Tough to pick an ugly for this one...nothing really stands out, so I will go with Barry Bonds...overall, just Barry Bonds (always a good fit for this category).

Let's hope the Yanks can even up the series tomorrow, fly home and get ready for round 1 of the Subway Series. (and Ian Kennedy doesn't earn another trip to Scanton)..
