Our winning streak is in tact going into Fenway (I realize it was an off day yest...but that can't be a bad thing...)

David Ortiz (not a fan of the nickname, you will never hear me say 'Big Papi') expects to be back in the lineup, but Manny may have to miss some time...

would be nice to see Joba set a tone for the weekend and come out firing against Beckett and the formidable Sox Lineup.

Now, onto this Barry Bonds stuff...Haven't the Yankees had their fill of the whole steroid thing?  Barry Bonds going to Tampa is one thing, but can you imagine what the press would do if he wound up in New York...STAY AWAY.

I'd like to see Xavier Nady in pinstripes after the deadline personally..

Hopefully the number in the subject line continues to rise, as does the number of teams that we are passing by in the standings.

With the win yesterday afternoon, our beloved Bronx Bombers sit in second place in the Wild-card and just 3.5 out of first in the AL East.

What a performance by Moose yesterday...I know its a bit early, but his pitching this year begs me to ask the question...

IF he keeps this pace up and pitches well down the stretch and he wants to come back, do the Yanks re-sign him?

Ah, that is what off days will do to you...no game to focus on, so you start asking questions that don't need to be answered for months...Now I get what sportstalk radio is all about...

In a move to try and Keep Posada's bat in the lineup down the stretch, he will not be having season-ending surgery as of now, even though he will eventually need it.

He is eligible to come back off the DL on Aug. 6....Looks like he will be the full-time DH with MAYBE  few games at first-base sprinkled in.  That obviously means Johnny Damon will have to play in Left close to full-time.

Another comfortable win for the Yanks last night.  The offense was firing on all cylinders and Darell Rasner pitched well enough to get the win.  Nice to see Bobby Abreu hit a ball out and Robinson Cano keep up his hot hitting.  The bullpen also looked spectacular again.  It would be easy to say "HEY, look at who the Yanks are beating!"...but oddly enough, the Twins came in with a better record than the Yankees....

One more game this afternoon (which I will have to gamecast from the office...goddam blackout restrictions on mlb-tv...whats it good for?!

Meanwhile, what a brutal loss for the Mets last night.  A 3-run lead into the ninth inning and the give up 6.  Now Billy Wagner has been known to blow some big games in the past, but it was the rest of the Mets' bullpen that did the dirty work last night.

Nice, comfortable win last night to open the series against the Twins last night...Hopefully we can keep it going tonight.

Just one thing...The Yanks can't be fooled when it comes to the pitching.  Sidney Ponson has pitched alright...but hsa mainly been pitching the right game at the right time...12 runs last night and he also started the game against Texas when the Yanks scored 18....WE NEED TO GET ANOTHER PITCHER.

Would be nice to see Rasner come out with a decent start tonight and keep this thing going.

Jose Molina's bat has great timing.  Beginning of the season, he was hitting doubles left and right, slows down while Jorge Posada is back playing, and then once he hit the DL again, Molina's bat suddenly wakes up with 3 hits...nice to see.

Damon getting back into the lineup is HUGE for the Yankees.  No doubt that a few weeks ago, Damon was the sparkplug to all of the offensive success that the Yankees had.  But why can't anything just be positive?  With this good news, comes the news that Jorge Posada is back on the DL with his ailing shoulder.

If I were a betting man, I would say that the Yankees would shut Posada down for an extended period of time to let the shoulder heal properly, which may mean the end of the season, especially if the MRI he is taking tomorrow shows that he will need surgery.  This is a huge blow...Thank god we have a decent (great defensive) backup catcher...Imagine if we were looking at 2 1/2 months of Sal Fasano or Wil Nieves starting as our Catcher?!

Would love to see Sidney Ponson keep things going tonight against the Twinks...Nick Blackburn is going to to try and avoid Bobby Abreu's linedrives this time...

It's a Yankee blog, I know, but I would venture to say that 90% of Yankees fans around New York are also Giants fans, so this is big news.  Giants get a 2nd and 5th round pick back, which was the same package they turned down from the Saints at the draft back in April.

Mixed about whether or not I like the trade.  Shockey defintely gave the team an edge and is an all-around good young player.  I guess it all depends on how well Kevin Boss plays this year.  I would like to see them bring in a veteran TE for insurance purposes...

Alright, so the blog has been as inconsistent as the Yankees batting order...I am back now full-time, for the time being (if that makes sense), until the Olympics start in a few weeks.

That is when I begin a 16-day marathon of watching the Olympics at 30 Rock as part of my free-lance project...Until then, let's hope the Yankees can keep this up.

After a sweep of the A's, the Yanks look forward to taking on the surprising Twins....more to come about this later, just had to re-introduce myself...

Talk about a clutch win.  One big hit and a great pitching performance spells a nice end to this 3-game series in Oakland.

Andy Pettitte was great after that a couple of mistakes in the 2nd inning and Mariano Rivera was awesome in the ninth.  Great win.

Now onto Houston where things get interesting right away.  Joba starts tomorrow night and along with trying to go past 4 innings on what is hopefully his last start with a limited pitch count, he will also have to make an at-bat or two.

At some point, the Yankees need to put some sort of winning streak together  and put .500 in the distant, rear-view mirror.

Good game all around tonight, Chien-Ming Wang got back on track, the defense was great, turning 4 double plays, and the offense scored just enough to get by.  Aside from a bit of micro-managing in the 8th inning,(Veras replacing Wang 1 batter into the inning) things went well tonight.
