Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, lauded Ruiz’s abilities in the ring.
“John Ruiz is a very skilled and talented heavyweight and we are very excited to add him to our elite stable of fighters,” said De La Hoya, a retired pugilist who won a gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
