Phoenix Suns

I understand that Shaquille O'neal is a man that transcends just the NBA, but watching him attempt to play against other athletes in their own sport is extremely difficult to swallow.  Watching Shaq attempt to swing a bat was like watching a baby giraffe trying to walk.  It was hard to watch yet I could not take my eyes off of it, like a car accident.  The 7'1" O'neill attempted to out-slug Albert Pujols, out-spike beach volleyball stars Misty May and Kerri Walsh, and out-throw Ben Roethlisberger, needless to say he could not out-do anybody at anything.  The show is a half hour too long and the hosts are extremely annoying.  The most important part of the show, the actual competition, takes place in the last fifteen minutles of the show making the first 45 minutes irrelevant.  Here are some short examples of the show from Youtube:

Shaq and Kobe “Had a Good Time” with Each Other 

Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O’Neal and Los Angles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant begrudgingly shared co-MVP awards at the All-Star game this past Valentine’s Day weekend as the Western Conference dominated the East 146-119 at the US Airways Center in Arizona.

Okay, let's just be honest here.  Nate Robinson may not have fully deserved the 2006 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Title, but he sure earned it this year.  Nate battled the defending champion, Dwight Howard, in the Finals and one-upped the ultimate gamesman in the end.  Together they put on possibly the greatest show in the history of the contest since the days of Michael Jordan battling Dominique Wilkins.

Look at Nash just DIVING into the fray for no reason. Matt Barnes checks a hard foul into Rafer Alston, he takes offense, charges him, and then you've got Shaq marching in and bouncing violent offenders. Ridiculous? Absolutely. But as a Warriors fan, it was a lot of fun having Barnes to hold down some thug living on the court when it was necessary. Obviously, the suspensions flew liberally after all of this.

With the MLB playoffs set to begin, there is a subtle difference in the air compared to start of any other postseason. In the NHL, fans can potentially look forward to a great Canadians/Bruins series that is not only exciting, but has a historical kick to it. Likewise basketball fans always have the chance to see if the Suns can finally get past the Spurs and football fans love seeing the rivalry of the Eagles Vs the City of Philadelphia when the Eagles so much as get tackled for a loss.

s did when they traded for Pau Gasol and felt that they had to try and one up the Lakers.  The Phoenix Suns went out and took a huge chance by trading for Shaquille O’Neal and the Mavericks traded away half their team to acquire Jason Kidd.  With the trading deadline this week I would not be surprised if western conference teams are not done playing deal or no deal.  With the number one seed and the number nine seed being separated by a mere four and a half games, every thing is going to be magnified for the next two months.  Every single game is going to matter and a three game losing streak, for anyone, could have that team on the verge of missing the playoffs.  After months of boring basketball the west is here to save us.

Apparently the Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns have agreed on a trade that would send Shaquille O'Neal to Phoenix in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks. I believe this is simply a knee-jerk reaction to the Los Angeles Lakers' acquisition of Pau Gasol (a brilliant move by L.A., by the way) and do not see how this trade can make sense from the Suns' vantage point.
